DiscoverPerranporth

Set on Cornwall’s spectacular north coast, Perranporth is a much-loved seaside town with a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, beautiful scenery and one of Cornwall’s most impressive beaches. Just a short distance from Ocean Meadow View, it’s the perfect place to slow down, breathe in the sea air and enjoy the very best of the Cornish coast.

Three miles of golden sand

At the heart of Perranporth is its magnificent beach – a huge sweep of golden sand backed by dunes and dramatic cliffs. Whether you want to spend the day building sandcastles with the family, relaxing with a good book, exploring rock pools or simply watching the Atlantic waves roll in, there is plenty of space to find your own favourite spot.

Perranporth is particularly well known for its surfing, with Atlantic swells making it a fantastic destination for both experienced surfers and those wanting to try something new. Local surf schools offer lessons and equipment hire, making it easy to get out on the water.

For something a little more peaceful, take a stroll along the beach at low tide, explore the dunes or head along the South West Coast Path for spectacular views across the coastline.

Something for everyone

Perranporth isn't just about the beach. The town has a friendly selection of cafés, restaurants, pubs and independent businesses, making it easy to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, a Cornish lunch or a relaxed evening meal after a day outdoors.

For a memorable experience, head down to the beach as the sun begins to set. With the Atlantic stretching out in front of you, Perranporth is a wonderful place to enjoy those long Cornish evenings.

Families will find plenty to enjoy too, from rock pools and caves to the famous Chapel Rock tidal pool. The beach and surrounding area offer opportunities for walking, swimming, surfing and exploring, whatever the weather.

Rich in Cornish history

Perranporth has strong connections with the story of St Piran, Cornwall's patron saint. According to local legend, St Piran arrived on these shores after crossing the sea from Ireland, and the remains of his ancient oratory can still be found among the dunes at nearby Perran Sands.

The area's heritage is also closely linked with Cornwall's mining and surfing history. Perranporth was home to two working mines in the 19th century, while the town also played an early role in the development of British surfing.

Explore beyond Perranporth

One of the great advantages of staying at Ocean Meadow View is the opportunity to explore more of North Cornwall. Perranporth is conveniently situated between some of the county's best-known destinations, with Newquay and Truro both within easy reach. From dramatic coastal walks and hidden coves to historic villages, gardens, attractions and world-famous beaches, there is plenty to discover during your stay.

Whether you're looking for an action-packed family holiday, a relaxing beach escape, a surfing adventure or simply somewhere to enjoy the beauty of Cornwall, Perranporth makes a wonderful base.

Explore Cornwall

Explore Cornwall from Ocean Meadow View

One of the great things about staying at Ocean Meadow View is its location. Perranporth is perfectly placed for exploring Cornwall, with beautiful beaches, coastal villages, historic towns and family attractions all within easy reach. Whether you want to spend your days exploring or simply enjoy a few leisurely trips out, there is plenty to discover.

Truro – Cornwall’s Cathedral City

Just a short drive from Perranporth, Truro is Cornwall’s only city and a lovely place to spend a day. Wander through the cobbled streets and independent shops, enjoy a coffee or lunch in one of the many cafés and restaurants, or visit the impressive cathedral which dominates the city skyline.

For a more peaceful day out, Trelissick is nearby, with beautiful gardens, woodland walks and wonderful views across the Fal Estuary.

Newquay – Surf, Sea & Family Fun

Around 20 minutes away, Newquay is one of Cornwall’s best-known seaside towns and is famous for its surfing, beaches and lively atmosphere. Head to Fistral Beach to watch the surfers, explore the town or enjoy a walk along the coast.

There are also plenty of family-friendly attractions, including Newquay Zoo and Blue Reef Aquarium Newquay. For an adventure on the water, Newquay is also a great place to try surfing, coasteering and other watersports.

St Agnes & the Heritage Coast

Just along the coast from Perranporth, St Agnes is a beautiful Cornish village surrounded by dramatic cliffs, sandy coves and historic mining landscapes. Explore Trevaunance Cove, walk up St Agnes Beacon or discover the atmospheric ruins of Wheal Coates overlooking the Atlantic.

The coastal scenery here is spectacular and makes the area particularly popular with walkers and photographers.

Family Days Out

There are plenty of attractions within easy reach for a family day out. Lappa Valley, near Newquay, offers steam trains, play areas and activities for children, while Camel Creek Family Adventure Park provides rides, animals and attractions for a fun-filled day.

For something a little different, a visit to a Cornish farm or local attraction such as Healey's Cornish Cyder makes for a great day out, particularly when the weather isn't quite beach weather.

Gardens, History & Something Different

Cornwall is famous for its gardens, and there are some wonderful places to visit beyond the coast. National Trust - Trelissick Garden is a beautiful choice for a relaxing day surrounded by nature, while The Lost Gardens of Heligan near St Austell offer something truly special, with an extraordinary story and fascinating gardens to explore.

For a memorable full-day trip, the Eden Project is also within reach, with its enormous biomes, gardens and exhibitions making it one of Cornwall's most recognisable attractions.

Beautiful Beaches & Coastal Walks

Of course, you don't need to travel far to experience some of Cornwall's finest scenery. From Perranporth you can follow the South West Coast Path towards St Agnes or north towards Holywell Bay, taking in dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and sweeping Atlantic views along the way.

With Perranporth, St Agnes, Holywell Bay, Crantock and Newquay all nearby, beach lovers are spoilt for choice.

Whether you're looking for adventure, family days out, beautiful gardens, historic towns or simply somewhere to enjoy a Cornish cream tea, Ocean Meadow View makes an ideal base for discovering Cornwall.
